Itzchak Tarkay was an Israeli artist born in 1935 in Subotica, Yugoslavia (now Serbia). He is known for his figurative paintings that combine elements of fauvism, impressionism, and expressionism. Tarkay grew up in Israel and studied at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem.
Tarkay’s artwork often features elegant women in luxurious settings, and he was influenced by the works of Matisse and Toulouse-Lautrec. He used a unique layering technique to create a sense of depth and texture in his work, and his use of color was particularly notable. Tarkay’s paintings have been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, and he has been commissioned to create artwork for many public and private collections.
In addition to his art, Tarkay was also a teacher and mentor to many young artists. He was a member of the Israeli Painters and Sculptors Association and the International Art Fund. Tarkay passed away in 2012, but his artwork continues to be celebrated and admired by art collectors and enthusiasts around the world.
