Peter Max is an American artist born in Berlin, Germany in 1937. He is known for his bright, colorful and psychedelic artwork that became synonymous with the counterculture of the 1960s. Max moved to the United States with his family in 1953 and studied at the Art Students League of New York. He gained recognition in the 1960s for his vibrant pop art, which was inspired by the music and culture of the era.
Max’s work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums around the world, and he has been commissioned to create artwork for many major events, including the Super Bowl, the World Cup, and the Olympics. He has also created artwork for several popular brands, including Coca-Cola, Absolut Vodka, and the Grammy Awards.
